The out of class assignment for this weekend was to watch videos on variable widths for strokes, creating shapes and paths, some more techniques on the pen tool and using type in illustrator. I learned quite a few things from the videos. It's amazing what illustrator is capable of doing, especially when it comes to creating your own unique shapes; the possibilities are endless. I also enjoyed the lesson on the blob tool and eraser tool. Neither of these tools I have used in the past, so it was nice to learn a new way of creating interesting and dynamic shapes. And lastly, I liked learning about tracing images in illustrator. I have experience in photoshop so I've done a lot of "clipping" but tracing is something I'm not familiar with. I was glad to learn new ways of tracing images through illustrator, and will definitely be using these new techniques on upcoming projects.
For homework we also needed to take a few pictures for references for our wallpaper calendar. I took photos of details of leaves and some interesting trees to use for mine because I want to create an abstract , surrealistic visual composition that transcends the viewer. To me, the fall is a reflective time, the cool air seems to make everything clearer. Attached are the photos that I have documented.
